“We imagined spotlights cast from Arts Centre Melbourne’s famous spire” – Carter LeAmon

Melbourne Arts Walk uniquely celebrates the performing arts and the impact it has on our lives. Launched in late 2013, Melbourne Arts Walk is a limited series of plaques designed by Carter LeAmon set in the heart of Melbourne’s cultural precinct.

Melbourne Arts Walk powerfully captures the inspiration of live performance through the words of illustrious singers, playwrights, actors, directors, dancers, choreographers, conductors and the many others that have made a lasting contribution to the arts in Melbourne.

Melbourne Arts Walk imagines Arts Centre Melbourne’s spire casting spotlights on to the walkways throughout the cultural precinct. Projected from an angle, a spotlight throws an oval pool of light, and it is from this visual key that the design for the Melbourne Arts Walk plaque and their deployment throughout the precinct is derived.

“Appearing on the Melbourne Arts Walk plaques are quotations capturing many of the world’s most celebrated artists’, entertainers’ and personalities’ experiences at Arts Centre Melbourne – and their reflections on art and culture in society” – Simone LeAmon and Edmund Carter
