Design in everyday life presents 40 design projects by 21 Melbourne design studios. Communicating design’s relationship to serial manufacturing each project is presented in multiples with almost 700 objects making up the ‘design wall’. The installation is curated to five themes: Design and Social Culture, Design and the Economy, Design and Sustainability, Design and the Human Body, Design and Visual Culture.
Commissioned by the National Gallery of Victoria for Melbourne Now – a celebration of art, architecture, design, performance and cultural practice in Melbourne the Design Wall featured as part of the design presentation Melbourne Design Now – revealing how contemporary designers are embedding unique and serial design production with ideas, meaning and emotion to resonate with the city of Melbourne.
